Warren Sapp struggled to find anyone as dangerous as him on the football field, but the sea has proven to be a more level playing field.

A shark bit the Pro Football Hall of Famer on Wednesday in the Florida Keys, according to The Tampa Bay Times’ Greg Auman. Sapp was reaching into the water for a lobster when a shark, which apparently wanted the same crustacean, bit him … hard.

The bite left a large gash on Sapp’s left forearm. A photo taken by charter fishing boat company Two Conchs clearly shows Sapp’s injury.

Charter captain Jack Carlson told the Times that the one witness said the shark was around four feet long. Carlson wasn’t surprised that sharks were in the area.

“The sharks hang around those lobster holes, because they feed on the lobster as well,” Carlson said.

Despite suffering a large bite, Sapp claimed the prize that was the lobster.

“The shark wanted the lobster just as bad as Sapp,” Carlson later wrote on Instagram, per the Tampa Bay Times. “Sapp got the lobster and the Shark got his lick in too.”
