Tom Brady has given up.

The New England Patriots quarterback decided Friday to stop fighting his four-game NFL suspension stemming from his alleged role in the Deflategate scandal. He made the announcement via his Facebook page, and as you might imagine, reaction to the news on Twitter was intense, to say the least.

Here’s a roundup of some of that reaction.

The hot takes started coming at a steady pace.

This is the same Rob Parker who was fired from ESPN.

Patriots fans aren’t looking forward to this.

The Cleveland Browns will be Brady’s first opponent this season. Sorry, Browns fans.

Boston-born writer Bill Simmons is, predictably, not happy with what has transpired over the last year-and-a-half.

New York Jets fans are happy with the decision, as expected.

New York Post writer Bart Hubbuch doesn’t have many friends in New England, and takes like these are the primary reason why.

Should Patriots fans be blaming the NFL Players Association more?

NESN analyst Matt Chatham, a former Patriots player who has been a die-hard Brady supporter throughout this process, didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts.

Knowing the low standard the Indianapolis Colts have for hanging banners, this one actually might become a reality at some point.

Brady was smart to handle his new contract in the manner he did.

Ouch.

The best part of today’s events.
