FOXBORO, Mass. — Bill Belichick wasn’t willing to shed any light Monday on a report that quarterback Tom Brady had been excused from two days of New England Patriots practice.

“I don’t comment on any personal situations,” the Patriots head coach said.

Brady missed last Thursday’s preseason game after reportedly slicing his hand on a pair of scissors shortly before kickoff, and a source told CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran the team gave the quarterback permission to sit out Sunday’s and Monday’s practice sessions. Those practice absences were not injury-related, per Curran’s source.

Brady, who is suspended for the first four games of the regular season, has yet to play in the preseason, and his status for Thursday’s exhibition game against the Carolina Panthers remains unclear.

Backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said Monday on WEEI’s “Dennis & Callahan with Minihane” he did not know where Brady has been for the past few days.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” Garoppolo said.
