A conversation with Bill “Spaceman” Lee knows no bounds.

NESN.com’s Ricky Doyle and Mike Cole recently sat down with Lee ahead of the premiere of “Spaceman,” a film about the former major league pitcher’s life following his release from the Montreal Expos in 1982.

Lee, who’s known to have a unique personality, was insightful, colorful, opinionated and real, leading to a stimulating chat that touched on the film, the state of Major League Baseball and the Boston Red Sox, whom “Spaceman” played with for 10 seasons from 1969 to 1978.

Check out some of the highlights of the conversation in the podcast below.

Josh Duhamel stars as Lee in the “Spaceman” film, which was directed by Brett Rapkin. The movie premieres Friday, Aug. 19, and those in the Boston area can check it out at Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Mass., or CinemaSalem in Salem, Mass.
