Tom Brady’s children are safe.
Denver Broncos safety T.J. Ward relayed a story back in March about teammate Derek Wolfe telling an opposing player he’d eat his kids. At the time, Ward thought Brady had been the subject of Wolfe’s Mike Tyson-esque threat. But it turns out Ward actually mixed up the New England Patriots quarterback with another Pro Bowl signal caller.
“OK, so there is a story behind that,” Wolfe explained on a recent episode of Barstool Sports’ “The Life.” “That was not directed at Tom Brady. That was actually a whole different team. It was the Chargers. It was Philip Rivers.
“We were going back and forth the whole game and I said some things that I shouldn’t have said probably, but I was pissed off. T.J. was misspoken when he said I said that about Tom Brady. That was not Tom Brady. So sorry, Tom, for the misunderstanding.”
Not to take anything away from Rivers, who’s a good quarterback in his own right, but this might be the first time anyone’s ever mistaken him for Brady, who’s arguably the greatest QB in NFL history.
Wolfe also might want to reconsider his threat. Not just because it’s inhumane, but also because Rivers has eight children. Eating them all would require quite the appetite.
