The Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of former New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley on Sunday in an attempt to bolster a struggling rushing attack.

Ridley was released by the Detroit Lions last week.

The LSU product missed eight games because of injuries last season as a member of the New York Jets. Injuries have forced him to miss a total of 16 games over the last two seasons.

Ridley was a third-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2011. He’s totaled 685 carries, 2,907 yards and 22 touchdowns over his five pro seasons. He fumbled eight times in his first three seasons but has zero over the last two campaigns (14 games total).
