Randy Orton wasn’t the only person injured at SummerSlam on Sunday night.

The WWE Universe was enthralled over Finn Balor’s victory over Seth Rollins which made him the inaugural WWE Universal champion. But Balor actually was injured during the match, and now must relinquish his championship belt just hours after winning it.

Rumors surfaced overnight that Balor was injured in the match after a photo of him wearing a sling on his right arm popped up.

WWE confirmed the injury Monday afternoon, even tweeting out video of when the injury occurred. It seemed Balor dislocated his shoulder after Rollins threw him into the boards, and Balor immediately popped it back in before getting up and continuing the match.

“Monday Night RAW” general manager Mick Foley announced Balor would have to relinquish the belt.

Balor opened “RAW” on Monday and officially handed the belt over.

He might have a torn labrum, but still needs further examination, according to WWE.com. Should his injury require surgery and rehab, he could miss up to six months.

As for the Universal Champion, Rollins and three others will wrestle in a fatal four-way match next week to decide the new champion.
