Spare a thought for Samir Ait Said.

The French gymnast suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in Olympic history Saturday on the first day of gymnastics competition in Rio. Said was trying to land from an attempted vault when he snapped his left leg.

See Said’s injury below. Warning, the video is extremely graphic.

Those in attendance at the Rio Olympic Arena confirm the injury was as bad as it looked.

Medical staff rushed to Said’s side and stretchered him off the floor.

Here’s wishing Said a speedy recovery and a place in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
