Here’s Mookie Betts’ Game-Winning Home Run You Missed While Sleeping

The Boston Red Sox are on the West Coast, which is sometimes bad news for those living in the New England area and can’t afford to stay up all night watching baseball.

The good news, though, is that the Sox won Monday night, edging the Seattle Mariners 2-1 at Safeco Field. The win was one of Boston’s most dramatic of the season, too.

Following up on the ninth-inning heroics from Sunday afternoon in Anaheim, Boston once again used a little late magic to prevail.

This time, things got started in the eighth inning. Aaron Hill came to the plate with the Red Sox trailing 1-0 against Seattle starter James Paxton, who was dealing. Hill got a hold of an offering from Paxton and sneaked it over the left field fence for the game-tying blast.

Then, in the ninth inning, Mookie Betts came to the plate to lead off the ninth against Seattle reliever Steve Cishek. He came through with a line-drive home run to left field that just barely cleared the fence to put the Red Sox ahead by a run.

That set the stage for closer Craig Kimbrel, returning from the disabled list, to shut the door in the ninth inning to preserve the one-run lead and give the Sox the win.
