Julian Edelman Looks Good In Patriots Drills In Return To Practice Field

Julian Edelman gave the New England Patriots and their fans a scare when he tweaked his surgically repaired foot during Tuesday’s practice, but he was back on the field Wednesday.

The wide receiver reportedly won’t play in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium, but it appears the Patriots dodged a bullet.

“I thought he looked pretty good during those early drills,” NESN.com Patriots beat writer Doug Kyed said of Edelman on “NESN Live.” “He was running, he was cutting, he was planting on that injured foot, or that surgically repaired foot. So I think it was probably much ado about nothing yesterday.

“He probably got a little bit scared when he felt something in that foot. He did have two surgeries on it, he did break it last year, so you can understand him and the team being cautious with it. But he did look fine out there. I think it was smart to keep him out of those team drills with the Saints and just let him work off to the side on the field with the rest of the injured players.
