MLB Trade Rumors: Jonathan Lucroy Draws Interest From Rangers On Deadline Day

by NESN Staff

August 1, 2016

Many eyes will be on Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy as the 4 p.m. ET non-waiver MLB trade deadline approaches.

The veteran catcher is batting .299 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs, making him one of the best hitters available on the trade market.

One team with reported interest in Lucroy on deadline day is the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers aren’t on his no-trade list, which is good news for Texas — just ask the Cleveland Indians.

The Rangers have a pretty comfortable six-game lead atop the American League West, but upgrading their catcher depth and talent with someone of Lucroy’s caliber certainly would be a huge boost to their postseason chances.
