The Olympic men’s and women’s basketball knockout stages in Rio are underway, and the United States teams remain the favorites to win gold.

The women’s squad is an overwhelming favorite to claim a fifth consecutive gold medal, according to oddsmakers. The men’s team, though, has shown more weaknesses.

The USA men barely beat Serbia and France to end the preliminary round, and now it must play arguably the tournament’s second-best team, Spain, in the semifinals. The Americans got away with a poor first quarter in Wednesday’s quarterfinal win over Argentina, but they might not be so fortunate against the Spaniards.
