Patriots Fans Won’t Want 2016 Season To Mirror This ‘Madden NFL 17’ Sim

Video games are weird sometimes, and going through a franchise or season mode in a sports video game often produces wacky results.

CBS Sports ran a simulation of the upcoming 2016 season in the new “Madden NFL 17” video game from EA Sports, and the Atlanta Falcons won the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots won the AFC East — some things in life are guaranteed, even in “Madden” — but they had a mediocre 10-6 record and lost in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

The Patriots’ playoff loss came against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is totally believable given that Pittsburgh is very good and Ben Roethlisberger is one of the league’s top five quarterbacks.

What’s stranger is that Tom Brady retired after the season. That makes little sense given that he’s publicly stated he wants to play into his 40s.

Patriots fans are hoping the actual season turns out nothing like this one, of course.
