FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots had their first non-training camp practice of the 2016 season Monday, and it appears some players have regained their health.

Defensive end/linebacker Shea McClellin returned to practice after missing three sessions and the Patriots’ preseason game against his former team, the Chicago Bears, last week. McClellin left for the lower practice field to work on conditioning alongside defensive end Rob Ninkovich, wide receivers Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola, guard Tre’ Jackson and running back Donald Brown.

Here are some more notes from practice:

— Safety Patrick Chung (unknown), tight end Rob Gronkowski (unknown), quarterback Tom Brady (excused), running back Dion Lewis (knee), offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (shoulder, hip) and defensive end Jabaal Sheard (unknown) didn’t practice.

— Wide receiver Keshawn Martin, running back D.J. Foster and tight end Bryce Williams stayed with the rest of the team on the upper practice fields during positional drills. All three players had previously been working with the conditioning group, and it could be a good sign that they can play Friday against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3 of the preseason.
