FOXBORO, Mass. — Center Bryan Stork once again became property of the New England Patriots on Monday after a failed physical reportedly nullified his trade to the Washington Redskins.
How long he will stay a Patriot has yet to be determined.
“I don’t know if it’s official, but that sounds like the way it’s going to go,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday, referring to the reports of Stork’s failed medical exam. “… We’ll find out exactly what the story is whenever that is, and we’ll make the best decision that we can.”
Monday’s development was the latest twist in a bizarre week for Stork, who reportedly came inches from being released by the Patriots last Wednesday before Washington swooped in with a last-second trade offer.
The 25-year-old offensive lineman then considered retirement, according to reports, before confirming in a tweet that he would, in fact, join the Redskins. That tweet later was deleted, and where or if Stork will continue his NFL career is anyone’s guess.
