Just because Peyton Manning retired from football doesn’t mean his rivalry with Tom Brady did.

The former Denver Broncos quarterback, who defeated Brady and his New England Patriots in their final head-to-head matchup in January’s AFC Championship Game en route to his second Super Bowl championship, was a part of Comedy Central’s roast of Rob Lowe that taped over the weekend.

Lowe jumped the gun in 2012, tweeting that Manning was going to retire after he missed the season with neck injuries. According to TMZ Sports, Manning used that botched 2012 tweet to take an easy shot at Brady during the roast.

“You tried to take the air out of my retirement announcement so fast, you can probably get a job as Tom Brady’s ball boy,” Manning told Lowe.

Burn.

We’re sure Brady will have something to say about Manning’s crack, though it might come via email somewhere down the line.

The roast airs Sept. 5 on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET.
