The Raiders’ days in Oakland might be numbered.
We’ve known for a little while that the franchise is hoping to move to Las Vegas, and now it’s taken another step toward making that a reality.
The Raiders officially applied for a “Las Vegas Raiders” trademark on Aug. 20, per Darren Heitner of Forbes.
New renderings of the proposed arena that would be built for the Raiders also were released, including the one pictured in the tweet below. The cost of the stadium is expected to be about $2 billion (yes, you read that right).
It’s possible that the Raiders, UNLV and a potential MLS expansion team could all call this new stadium home at some point.
The Raiders have played in Oakland since 1995. They also were in Oakland from 1960 through 1981 before moving to Los Angeles from 1982 through 1994.
