The Tim Tebow baseball dream is real, and the Boston Red Sox apparently are one of many teams interested to see how it pans out.

We found out earlier this month the former NFL quarterback is seriously pursuing a career in Major League Baseball and will hold a workout for big league teams at the end of August. On Tuesday, Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski revealed his team will have a representative at said workout.

Read into this what you will, but it’s not all too surprising the Red Sox are getting a glimpse of Tebow. The former Heisman Trophy winner’s workout, reportedly scheduled for Aug. 30, will be attended by more than 20 MLB teams, a source told ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. It certainly doesn’t hurt for Boston to join the party and see if there’s any merit to kicking the tires on the 29-year-old.

Tebow, who hasn’t played organized baseball since high school, reportedly has been training for the past year to work on hitting and fielding, but it remains to be seen what position he’ll try to play.

Tebow does have a connection to the Boston area, as he spent training camp with the New England Patriots in 2013 before getting released prior to the season. But again, the Red Sox will be one of many teams at his upcoming workout, so the Tebow-to-Boston rumors shouldn’t be fired up just yet.
