Do The Rock, Vin Diesel Plan To Settle ‘Rivalry’ At WrestleMania 33?

Are Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel playing us all?

The Rock caused a stir recently when he called out some of his “Fast 8” male co-stars for being “candy asses,” but an insider told the gossip magazine Life & Style the beef largely is a publicity stunt to generate interest for both the movie and a match at WrestleMania 33.

“They are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity,” the insider told Life & Style.

Perhaps there is some truth to there being a real rivalry between The Rock and Diesel — the insider said as much to Life & Style — but some astute internet commenters were quick to suggest shortly after The Rock’s social media call-out that it might be by design. After all, WrestleMania 33 is scheduled to take place April 2, 2017, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. The movie “Fast 8” — starring both The Rock and Diesel — is set to hit theaters April 14. How convenient.

“The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8,” the insider told Life & Style.

WWE is no stranger to incorporating celebrities into its storylines, especially for big events like WrestleMania and SummerSlam. And The Rock, who still shows up on WWE programming every now and then, tends to make an appearance at WrestleMania every year in some capacity.

Is there smoke where there’s fire? Either way, The Rock has us talking. Again.
