Tom Brady was ready for Plan B.
Although it’s hard to envision a scenario in which the fiery quarterback didn’t succeed at the NFL level, the reality is that Brady was a sixth-round draft pick in 2000 and, as a result, he’d only receive so many opportunities to prove he belonged in the league.
Fortunately for both him and the New England Patriots, Brady took advantage of his first big opportunity. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t prepared to join the workforce if the whole football thing didn’t work out.
Brady turned 39 years old Wednesday, and to mark the occasion, ESPN’s Darren Rovell tweeted a copy of the quarterback’s old résumé from when he was graduating from the University of Michigan.
Obviously, Brady never really needed to put the résumé to use. He earned a roster spot with the Patriots after being selected 199th overall, became the starting quarterback when Drew Bledsoe went down in 2001 and has won four Super Bowl rings going into the 2016 season.
All of that trumps his Merrill Lynch internship, if we do say so ourselves.
