If you watched Thursday’s New England Patriots-New Orleans Saints preseason game, you probably saw Patriots running back James White haul in a screen pass from Jimmy Garoppolo and race 56 yards for the biggest gain of the night.

What you might not have spotted, however, was the thunderous block by Patriots receiver Aaron Dobson that helped make the play happen.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick singled out Dobson’s effort during his Friday conference call with reporters.

“I’d say really the key block on the play was by Dobson, who got the linebacker (Craig Robertson) that was in coverage on White,” Belichick said. “It was certainly one of our better executed plays of the night, offensively.”

Dobson, who is fighting for a roster spot as he enters his fourth NFL season, also caught three passes for 27 yards in New England’s preseason-opening 34-22 win.
