Why Sandy Leon Might Just Be The Red Sox’s Most Valuable Player

Sandy Leon is having one of the crazier baseball seasons we’ve ever seen.

Sure, the sample size is limited: Since being recalled in June, the Boston Red Sox catcher has just 158 plate appearances. But in them, he’s batting .383 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs. The latter two numbers are more than his previous four MLB seasons combined.

It’s been a saving grace for the Red Sox, who really don’t have a hole in their lineup.
