Wrestling fans have scoffed at the notion of a so-called “new era” of WWE that the company has been pushing since WrestleMania 32.

Sunday night at SummerSlam, they finally got it.

Competing to become the inaugural WWE Universal Champion, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor gave us a dream match. But it was Balor, the former NXT champion recently recalled to the WWE roster, who left victorious.

Fighting as his alter ego, The Demon King, Balor becomes the first wrestler ever to win a world title in his pay-per-view debut.
