BOSTON — Xander Bogaerts’ slump seems to be over.

The Red Sox shortstop had been batting below the Mendoza line in August heading into Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park, but Bogaerts came up big in the first inning. The 23-year-old hit a monster two-run homer over the Green Monster that actually might still be in orbit.

It was Bogaerts’ 16th home run of the season.

Bogaerts also went 3-for-5 in the first game of the series Friday, and Saturday’s homer was hit off Royals starter and American League Cy Young candidate Danny Duffy. It’s pretty safe to say that Bogaerts is going to be just fine.
