Andrew Benintendi has the chance to be a very good hitter, but you already knew that.
So, we’ll tell you something you might not know about the Boston Red Sox rookie: The kid can dance, too.
Benintendi delivered the clutch hit of the night Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles, a three-run home run in the sixth inning that lifted the Red Sox to their seventh consecutive win. That meant the 22-year-old left fielder got to play lead role in the Red Sox’s outfield victory dance, in which one player shows off his dance moves while the other two “take his picture.”
Let’s just say Benintendi didn’t disappoint.
Is that the Red Sox’s 2015 first-round draft pick or Michael Jackson?
“Yeah, I thought I’d do a little Michael Jackson,” Benintendi confirmed to NESN’s Guerin Austin after the game. “There will hopefully be some more moves from us out there.”
September certainly has been a thriller for Boston, which has gone 15-4 since the beginning of the month to open up a five-game lead in the American League East. And the recent return of Benintendi, who has at least one extra-base hit in each of the five games he’s played since returning from the disabled list, is a big reason why.
