FOXBORO, Mass. — Defensive tackle Anthony Johnson wasn’t gone from the New England Patriots for long.

Johnson, who was cut Monday, signed to the Patriots’ practice squad Wednesday morning, when he already was in the locker room.

The Patriots released guard Ian Silberman to make room for Johnson. Silberman was signed Sept. 15.

Johnson had four tackles in two games before being waived from the Patriots’ 53-man roster. He played 43 snaps combined in Weeks 1 and 3 as an interior pass rusher and was a healthy scratch in Week 2. The Patriots signed fellow defensive tackle John Hughes, a heavier option, to take his place on the 53-man roster.
