Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert took his car for an engine swap, but it didn’t go as planned.

Trips to an auto shop can be a real pain in the neck, but Tolbert’s dispute with Motion Lab Tuning in south Charlotte, N.C., managed to be more than that.

Tolbert took to Instagram on Monday, claiming even though he was quoted a price and told the work would take 10 days, the work was not complete after 2 1/2 months.

He was expected to pay more, he says, because he was “a millionaire.”

There are two sides to every story, though. Motion Lab Tuning posted a response on Facebook later that day, claiming Tolbert wanted the work done for free because “he is Mike Tolbert.”

When that didn’t happen, Tolbert paid his $3,900 bill, although not in a way the shop would find convenient.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department made Tolbert pay his bill, according to the post.
