Julian Edelman has some competition this season, and we’re not talking about new New England Patriots receivers Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell.
Asked during an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” about how Jimmy Garoppolo’s “handsomeness” has allowed him to easily fill the void left by Tom Brady, Patriots defensive end Chris Long joked that Garoppolo’s good looks are pushing Edelman out of the spotlight.
“I think the guy that it’s tough for is Julian Edelman,” Long said. “He thinks he’s, like, Tom Cruise or something, so this is kind of making him feel awkward. The attention’s shifted from his — what do you call it, a butt chin? — that he’s got. That neck beard. Women love Julian Edelman, so it’s been a tough transition for him now that everybody’s paying attention to Jimmy.”
The Patriots were victorious in Garoppolo’s first NFL start, knocking off the Arizona Cardinals 23-21 on Sunday night.
