Nobody puts David Ortiz in a corner.

You’d think most of the baseball world would know this about the Boston Red Sox slugger, especially considering he’s enjoying one of the best final seasons ever. But one Baltimore Orioles fan decided to test his luck Tuesday night at Camden Yards, and Ortiz burned him.

It all began in the fifth inning, when Ortiz blasted a long fly ball that fell short of the fence to Orioles right fielder Mark Trumbo. An Orioles fan let Ortiz hear it as he walked back to the dugout, and Big Papi responded by telling that fan he just missed hitting a home run.

So, what did Ortiz did in his next at-bat? Hit the ball to the moon, of course.

Ortiz launched a three-run homer in the seventh that all but clinched Boston’s 5-2 victory. And you’d better believe he had some words for that fan as he walked back to the dugout.

“We’re always having fun with the fans,” Ortiz told MLB Network after the game. “That guy was just screaming and saying things, and I was just trash-talking back to him.”

Hitting the 539th home run of your career to give your team a four-run lead over a division rival is a pretty good form of talking trash, too.
