Did WWE Take A Jab At CM Punk’s Awful UFC Debut During ‘Backlash’ Pay-Per-View?

CM Punk’s UFC debut went as poorly as possible, and his former employer might have added a little insult to injury Sunday night.

Mickey Gall forced Punk to tap out in the first round of Punk’s UFC debut Saturday night in a fight that was even more one-sided than that. One night later, the WWE appeared to pile on with what seemed to be a subtle jab at the former champion.

If Punk happened to watch Sunday night, the beginning to the match between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler probably looked awfully familiar. That’s because it certainly appeared that the beginning of the wrestling match mirrored Punk’s fight.

Looks familiar, no?

The next question then would center around whose idea it was to do this. Perhaps it was just a playful jab from the wrestlers to a former colleague. Or, perhaps, it was a little more mean-spirited, especially considering Punk’s messy divorce from the WWE in 2014.
