Don’t Look Now, But The Red Sox Bullpen Suddenly Is A Dangerous Asset

The Boston Red Sox are a good baseball team this season, but they certainly aren’t free of weak spots.

One of those had included the bullpen, which struggled for the better part of the season due to injuries and inconsistency. Boston ranks 12th in Major League Baseball with a 3.61 bullpen ERA, but it leads the majors in its last 16 games with an impressive 0.94 ERA in 47 2/3 innings pitched.

That turnaround has helped Boston to an 11-5 record in that time and take a three-game lead in the American League East.

NESN’s Tom Caron, Tim Wakefield and Steve Lyons broke down the importance of that resurgence on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Monday’s game in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Check out their analysis in the video above.
