BOSTON — David Ortiz won’t be lacking in artwork as he enters retirement.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter began the final regular-season series of his career Friday night at Fenway Park against the Toronto Blue Jays. Ahead of that contest, the soon-to-be-retired slugger was presented with a special gift during a pregame ceremony.

Ortiz received a painting by world-renowned artist Peter Max, who has painted works for six U.S. presidents, in a special presentation from Foxwoods Resort Casino, the Red Sox Foundation and NESN. The portrait colorfully depicts Big Papi in his iconic home run pose.

It’s a pretty great painting, and if any Red Sox fans believe it would look good in their living room, they’re in luck. A poster of the painting, hand-signed by Ortiz and Max, is available for sale, thanks to Foxwoods, with all net proceeds going to the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.

There’s a limited quantity of these posters, so Red Sox fans will have to act quickly to own this unique piece of history from Ortiz’s final season.
