There seems to be a growing possibility quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will at least suit up Thursday in the New England Patriots’ Week 2 matchup with the Houston Texans.
Garoppolo’s injury “might not be as severe as it appeared initially,” a league source told The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride. The Patriots are hoping Garoppolo will be in uniform Thursday, “even if it?s in a backup/emergency capacity,” a league source told McBride.
Garoppolo reportedly suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder in the second quarter of the Patriots’ 31-24 Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. Rookie Jacoby Brissett would start if Garoppolo can’t Thursday, since the Patriots don’t have another quarterback on their roster. The Patriots also didn’t work out any free-agent quarterbacks Monday, and they reportedly don’t intend on signing one.
The Patriots didn’t practice Monday, but if they did, Garoppolo wouldn’t have participated, according to the Patriots.
