Josh Gordon might be nearing a return to the field, but his troubles aren’t necessarily behind him.
The Cleveland Browns wide receiver is wanted for arrest because he failed to respond to subpoenas in a paternity case, Cleveland.com’s Adam Ferrise reported Wednesday. Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Juvenile Court Judge Alison Floyd issued the warrant for Gordon’s arrest on Aug. 31 after he failed to appear at a scheduled hearing.
“We are aware of the situation,” the Browns said in an emailed statement. “Josh and his attorney are working with the Cuyahoga County Courts to resolve this matter. We have no further comment at this time.”
Christina Lockhart claimed in July 2015 that Gordon is the father of her (now one-year-old) daughter, but Gordon has yet to provide a DNA sample.
Court officers sent subpoenas to Gordon’s Los Angeles address as well as several other addresses in the Cleveland area.
Judge Floyd also issued subpoenas to the Browns, the NFL and Gordon’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
Gordon hasn’t played in the NFL since 2014 due to repeated failed drug and alcohol tests. He is eligible to return from suspension in Week 5, but the news of his arrest warrant could change those plans.
