Julian Edelman: Tom Brady’s Absence Like ‘One Of Your Buddies Going To Jail’

Tom Brady is going away for a while, and visitation from his teammates might as well be under surveillance.

So, the analogy Julian Edelman came up with to describe Tom Brady’s absence from the New England Patriots to serve a four-game suspension isn’t too far off.

“Not gonna lie, it’s like one of your buddies going to jail,” Edelman said Sunday.

“It’s one of those type of things, and the whole situation is unfortunate, but it’s happened and we have to move on. Love him to death — on the field, off the field, he’s been a great help in my life. But we have to deal with the situation, and right now the situation is thinking about the Arizona Cardinals and who’s going to be out there to play against these guys.”

Brady can speak to teammates while he serves the four-game ban, but he can’t play catch or discuss football with his fellow Patriots.

Brady’s suspension began Saturday at 4 p.m., and he can return to Gillette Stadium on Monday Oct. 3.
