UPDATE (8:08 p.m. ET): It appears Julio Jones switched back to his normal red-and-black game cleats after warmups, as you can see in this video of the Atlanta Falcons receiver’s 25-yard touchdown reception.

Jones was smart to make the switch, as the 9/11 cleats — no matter how good the intention — would’ve put the receiver in violation of the NFL’s uniform policy.

ORIGINAL STORY: Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will pay tribute to the victims and first responders from the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks by wearing special cleats during Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Georgia Dome.

Jones is coming off a spectacular 2015 season during which he tallied 136 receptions for 1,871 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Falcons-Bucs game starts at 1 pm. ET and can be seen on FOX.
