David Ortiz can catch some waves, thanks to the San Diego Padres.

The Padres honored the retiring Boston Red Sox slugger before the teams squared off in the final game of their series Wednesday night, with the Southern California squad giving Ortiz a custom surfboard decked out with a photo of him tipping his cap at his final All-Star Game two months ago in San Diego.

To top it all off, former Boston announcer Don Orsillo, former teammate Mark Loretta and former Red Sox COO (and current Padres CEO) Mike Dee presented the gift.

That’s certainly more useful than a giant tub of peanut butter.
