The New England Patriots successfully cut their roster down to 53 players Saturday.
Among the biggest surprise releases were wide receiver Keshawn Martin, linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, a 2016 sixth-round pick, and defensive end Geneo Grissom, a 2015 third-round pick.
The Patriots’ initial 53-man roster, which could change quite a bit before Sunday’s season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, includes just four traditional receivers and four tight ends.
