FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots defensive coordinator and linebacker Dont’a Hightower was absent from practice Wednesday after suffering an injury in Sunday’s Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Hightower missed just three snaps after appearing to suffer a leg injury in the first quarter. Hightower was the lone absence in the Patriots’ first practice of the week. Tight end Rob Gronkowski, left tackle Nate Solder and right guard Jonathan Cooper practiced despite missing Sunday’s game.
The Patriots also named their practice players of the week. Rookie running back D.J. Foster, safeties Jordan Richards and Vinnie Sunseri and linebacker Brandon King earned the honors.
