Gillette Stadium was crawling with free agents Wednesday, as the New England Patriots tried out eight players, including one quarterback and five wide receivers.
The Patriots worked out wide receivers Da’Ron Brown, Jordan Leslie, Max McCaffrey, Mekale McKay and DeAndrew White, linebacker Deon King, defensive lineman B.J. McBryde and quarterback Sean Renfree, a source informed NESN.com.
Brown, who’s 6-feet, 199 pounds, was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. The Northern Illinois product had five catches for 39 yards with the Chiefs this preseason.
Leslie went undrafted out of BYU in 2015. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound receiver caught three passes for 48 yards with the Atlanta Falcons this preseason.
McCaffrey, the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed and brother to star Stanford running back Christian, went undrafted out of Duke this spring. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound receiver spent training camp with the Oakland Raiders.
White went undrafted out of Alabama last year. The 6-feet, 192-pound wideout had two catches for 18 yards in four games with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.
McKay spent training camp with the Indianapolis Colts after going undrafted out of Cincinnati this year. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound receiver caught seven passes for 128 yards in the preseason.
King went undrafted out of Norfolk State. The 6-feet, 225-pound linebacker had 19 tackles in the preseason with the Dallas Cowboys.
McBryde, who’s 6-foot-5, 304 pounds, is a second-year player out of Connecticut. He had nine tackles with the 49ers this preseason.
Renfree was a seventh-round pick by the Falcons in 2013. The Duke product has three career completions on seven attempts for 11 yards with an interception.
