Rex Ryan is up to his old tricks again.

The Bills head coach made a surprise appearance Wednesday during’s Julian Edelman conference call with Buffalo media members, posing as a reporter to ask the New England Patriots wide receiver if he’ll be playing quarterback Sunday against Ryan’s team.

It wasn’t a great question — especially since Ryan already claimed to know who the Patriots’ starting QB will be this weekend — but Edelman actually offered a pretty entertaining response.

“I’m going to do whatever the coaches ask me to do,” the wideout said. “If they ask me to go out and get them a glass of water on the sideline, I’m going to do that with a smile on my face to help my team win.”

The Patriots reportedly expect to have Jimmy Garoppolo and/or Jacoby Brissett ready to start under center Sunday. Garoppolo sat out last Thursday’s game after injuring his shoulder the previous Sunday, and Brissett, who started in his place, is dealing with a thumb injury suffered during New England’s 27-0 win over the Houston Texans.
