One would’ve expected Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott, who were playing in their first career NFL games, to be the ones to make rookie mistakes when the Dallas Cowboys faced the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Instead, Cowboys fourth-year pro Terrance Williams had the biggest faux pas of the game.

With time waning and Dallas trailing 20-19, Prescott completed a pass to Terrance Williams with under 10 seconds to go. But rather than run out of bounds to set up one more play or a long field-goal attempt, Williams stayed inbounds and was tackled.

The Cowboys couldn’t get to the line quick enough, as time expired and the Giants won.

Even Dez Bryant was trying his best to get Williams’ attention and force him to go out of bounds.

After the game, EA Sports’ Twitter account used the incident to absolutely burn the Cowboys receiver.

And, of course, someone added some not-so-friendly details to Williams’ Wikipedia bio.

When speaking to the media, Williams explained his decision to stay inbounds, but he also admitted it probably wasn’t the best choice to make.

“In my mind, I was trying to make the first down and dive out of bounds — it just didn’t go as planned,” Williams said, via ESPN. “I was clearly aware of the time. It was something I was just thinking of, and it was a bang-bang moment. Now that I have a time to sit back and think about it, I should’ve just went out of bounds.”
