Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson Planning To Have Knee Surgery

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson appears to be headed for surgery after he suffered a right knee injury in last week’s win over the Green Bay Packers.

Peterson wasn’t playing well before the injury happened. He’s run for just 50 yards on 31 carries, and the Vikings are the only team without 100 rushing yards through the first two games combined.

Still, Peterson remains one of the best players in the league and his loss for any amount of games would be a huge blow to an offense with just two offensive touchdowns all season.

Fantasy football owners should look to the waiver wire or Vikings backup running backs Jerick McKinnon or Matt Asiata to replace Peterson if he misses a good chunk of time.

Minnesota travels on the road to play the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
