Blake Wheeler was an afterthought in 2011 when the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup Final.
Traded in February of that season to the then-Atlanta Thrashers, the scuffling 24-year-old brought forward Rich Peverley to Boston, the latter playing a pivotal role in helping Boston raise Lord Stanley’s Cup.
But since the trade, Wheeler hasn’t scored fewer than 61 points in a full 82-game season, the Winnipeg Jets recently named Wheeler their captain.
Wheeler’s performance is the subject of Monday’s EchoStor Data Center on NESN’s “Bruins Faceoff Live.” Take a closer look at his numbers with the Jets and hear what he had to say about being named captain in the video above.
