FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots had full attendance Friday as they took the field for practice outside Gillette Stadium. Well, full attendance with an asterisk.

Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett was seen walking away from the field in the direction of the locker room shortly before practice began. Bennett was fully dressed for practice, and since reporters were only allowed to watch the stretching portion of the session, it’s unclear whether he later returned.

Running back Dion Lewis was present after making his practice debut Thursday. The Patriots must add Lewis, who remains on the physically unable to perform list and has yet to see game action this season, to the 53-man roster by Nov. 17.

The Patriots visit the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

UPDATE (3:38 p.m. ET): Bennett did not return to practice, according to the Patriots’ injury report. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.
