Eric Decker Injury: Fantasy Football Impact Of Jets Star Going To Injured Reserve

The New York Jets placed wide receiver Eric Decker on injured receiver because of a torn rotator cuff, the team announced Wednesday.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport painted an even worse picture for Decker’s future in 2016.

This is a blow to fantasy football owners because Decker has been a productive wideout for the Jets after joining them in 2014. He missed the last two games, but the veteran receiver hauled in nine passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns during the first three games of the campaign.

Decker’s absence means the Jets’ top receiver, Brandon Marshall, should have an even larger role in the offense. He had 12 receptions for 203 yards and two touchdowns on 27 targets over the last two weeks, so it’s clear that Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will look Marshall’s way quite a bit.

Quincy Enunwa likely becomes New York’s No. 2 wideout. He leads the team with 27 receptions and ranks second with 294 receiving yards.

Veteran running back Bilal Powell, who has been a capable pass-catcher out of the backfield with 21 receptions through five games, could also see an increase in targets.

Aside from the players noted above, the waiver wire is the next-best place to find a replacement for Decker.
