Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Wire: Five Must-Drop Players To Replace

We’re almost through six weeks of the NFL season, which means there’s a large enough sample size to determine if certain players will be productive or not for your fantasy football team.

Here are five players to drop from your fantasy team before Week 7 begins.

Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins
Tannehill is averaging just 210 yards passing over the last three games, and he’s thrown a total of one touchdown with three interceptions in that span. He’s also gone back-to-back games without a single touchdown pass. Tannehill’s disappointing numbers — in addition to Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi’s breakout Week 6 performance — make it difficult to justify owning the Miami quarterback.

Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland Raiders
Murray has missed Oakland’s last two games with a turf toe injury, and DeAndre Washington has been a more effective player in his place. Washington is averaging more yards per carry and making a slightly bigger impact as a receiver. The Raiders also rank 22nd in rushing attempts, so there’s probably not going to be enough touches for Murray to be fantasy relevant on a consistent basis, especially if he’s splitting carries with Washington.

Markus Wheaton, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Wheaton was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a shoulder injury, and even if he returns in Week 7, he’s not worth owning with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out of the lineup. Wheaton has four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown through three games. This lackluster production combined with his injury issues makes him too much of a risk for fantasy owners.

Jacob Tamme, TE, Atlanta Falcons
If you were banking on Tamme taking advantage of the Falcons’ exceptional passing attack, you’ve been very disappointed. After tallying six catches in Week 1, his reception total decreased in each of the next four games. His two-catch performance against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday should be the last straw for fantasy owners.

Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers
Rookie Hunter Henry is the new No. 1 tight end in San Diego with four straight games of 60 or more receiving yards, in addition to touchdowns scored in three consecutive games. Gates doesn’t have more than four receptions or 30 receiving yards in any of his four games played this season.
