The Miami Marlins are making sure their late teammate Jose Fernandez is recognized all over the world.

Slugger Giancarlo Stanton shared a photo Tuesday on Instagram of himself, Miami closer A.J. Ramos and Los Angeles Angels starter and former Marlin Ricky Nolasco in Rio de Janeiro, sitting on a wall over a mural dedicated to Fernandez, who died Sept. 25 in a boating accident at the age of 24. The mural features the word “Niño,” the nicknam Fernandez’s friends and teammates had for him, with the Cuban flag and Fernandez’s number. The tilde in niño is a baseball bat with the word “saudades,” which is Portuguese for “miss you,” in it.

Stanton and Ramos also posted videos on Twitter, and the closer’s showed the trio helping to paint the mural with pointers from the artist.

It just goes to show how much Fernandez was loved when his teammates are honoring him both here and abroad.
