Is Rob Gronkowski ‘Dying’ To Step Into WWE Ring? Sure Sounds Like It

Rob Gronkowski already has a Super Bowl ring. Perhaps someday he’ll pursue a WWE title.

You can bet Gronkowski is more focused on the New England Patriots’ 2016 season, especially with him being hampered by a hamstring injury to this point. But WWE superstar Mojo Rawley, who’s good friends with Gronk, said Tuesday during an interview with “Good Morning San Diego” that the Patriots tight end definitely has considered giving professional wrestling a whirl in some capacity.

“The main man, Robbie G. I played college football with a couple of his brothers — his older brothers Dan and Chris — and we all kind of grew up together. We all came up together. We’ve all been on the grind for a very long time,” Rawley said. “Trust me, we’ve had that conversation many times — me and Gronk — and he is dying to get in the ring. I can tell you it won’t be while he’s in season. He’s got to focus.”

This isn’t the first time Gronkowski has been linked to wrestling, as his friendship with Rawley is well-known and he once was challenged to a match by someone from the TNA promotion. It’s hard to imagine Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would be too thrilled with the 27-year-old All-Pro tight end flying off the top rope anytime soon, though. So for now, we’ll wait.

It’ll likely be worth it, too, if Gronk someday gets his WrestleMania moment.
