FOXBORO, Mass. — New EnglandĀ Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, unlike Keyshawn Johnson, won’t make demands, likeĀ “Just Give Me the Damn Ball!”, to his quarterbacks. But he will try some non-verbal communication in the huddle.

Edelman took part in a Q&A during Matthew Slater’s Matthew vs. Matthew charity event at Splitsville in Patriot Place on Tuesday night and the moderator, WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton, asked Edelman if he ever demands the ball from quarterback Tom Brady.

“It’s almost like a marriage,” Edelman said. “You can ask anyone up here, we know these dudes inside and out. We see these guys more than our families. So you know to give a look to someone. I can walk by Rob in the locker room and just give him a look, and he knows exactly how I’m feeling depending on the situation. So I have one of these looks. I’ll give (Brady) the look, like … (Edelman demonstrated ‘the look’).

“I mean, he usually throws to the open guy, so it usually works regardless. I don’t really tell him, because in the heat of the moment it’s pretty crazy, but I do give him the look.”

And what did Edelman do while Brady was serving a four-game suspension?

“I was giving Jimmy the look.”
